Iraq

I just wanted to say that I miss you two.

The End.

Ah, yes…. Where was I?

If you were reading the last post you know I had some kind of a mouse problem. I think they’re gone now. Perhaps they came in with the weather changes. I’ll tell you – they sought shelter in the wrong house.

I’d really like to know how they got here though. My family has dogs… dogs that chase little animals out of the yard… and so do both of my neighbors. Surely if the mice were living in the yard the whole time they would have been run off by now. Well… I guess not, because they got here somehow. But now (I think) they’re gone.

I think I pretty much covered the whole video-camera thing. Just a new toy I want. We’ll see what happens after I wrap up a couple of the projects I’m working on right now.

Ice Age 2 ( The Meltdown ) was a great movie. If you’re into watching animated movies, that is. There was actually quite a bit of adult humor crammed into the first 15 minutes. Probably to convince the parents that it was worth sitting through. We almost weren’t allowed in, on account of the passes we had not being actual tickets, and the whole “this pass does not guarantee you a seat” thing. I was patient, and sure enough our awesome friends that were already inside had saved us seats anyway… so the message finally made it’s way to where we were and they let us in.

The movie was a lot funnier than the first, as far as I remember. And it seemed to last longer, too. There was a ton of great drama, and roller-coaster emotional parts. Overall, if you’re not too cool to see a kid flick, or if you have kids – definitely see it. It won’t change you’re life, but you won’t regret spending an hour and a half having watched it.

Have I ever mentioned that, some-day, I intend to learn how to properly use a comma? Good.

I bought a friend a birthday present today. I normally don’t do that… but I’m getting better.

There isn’t much more I would like right now than to have a guitar… oh wait… heh… [I'll leave that, just to show that I'm real.]

In an effort to learn to be a good writer, and not write just because I want to:

The End.

Been Awhile…

Sorry it’s been forever since I’ve written. Terrible. I’ve just been so busy with work and such. I bore you, but in real life – it’s great. I’ve finally gotten some really cool projects underway. Cha-ching! (sort of…)

So, a couple quick thoughts, as I’ll be writing the real post tomorrow evening:

It’s very hard to purposely catch a mouse. Especially when you know it’s in the room with you. I really don’t think that strategically placing a mouse trap helps, whatsoever.

I used to hate handi-cam type video cameras because I’m a nut for high-quality everything, and they’re always so shaky, etc. Recently, however, I’ve started capturing videos of friends (and I) doing stupid things – from a 4MP Kodak Digital Camera. Not great quality at all, but when the longest running clip of video is about 28 seconds, quality isn’t the primary concern. All that to say : now I want a hand-held video camera so bad!

I hate organic mice. [note on 'mice' link: I've never seen the site before, but apparently they are the first search engine with spelling correction and pictures. Really? I just thought the little diagram of the mouse was funny.]
Laura and I were given advance showing passes to go see Ice Age 2 tomorrow night. The first one was definitely not my favorite animated film, but it’ll probably be pretty funny – and it’s a free movie at one of the best theaters here in Memphis, and a good time with friends. I’ll be sure to break all the disclosure/review laws and tell you all about it… at least how good it is. I’d never spoil it for you, of course.

Tomorrow…

The End.

Kanotix and a cool image…

So, I was testing out another cool Linux Live CD – KANOTIX in peticular – and surfed over to the stock.xchng where I noticed a pretty cool looking random image. I want to check it out later, but I can’t save the URL or anything to my HD right now (if you know what a Live CD is, you might understand).

So, I’m posting the URL here, to find it later:
http://www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=view&id=477163

The machine I’m on right now actually boots to the Auditor/Knoppix OS, installed on the HD, but for some reason it wouldn’t let me save the pic to the drive. I’m tired and have to work in the morning, so I don’t have time to figure that out right now. Otherwise I would.

Also, the link to the Kanotix website is to the English page. English doesn’t appear to be his/their native language, but I assume that if you’re reading this, it’s YOUR native language, and so you probably wanted that link.

If you’re a Linux savvy geek and want to scare your friends, definitely go get an Auditor Live CD.

If you mostly know what you’re doing with computers, and just want to totally show off to your friends, definitely check out Knoppix or Kanotix. I’ve barely touched either of them, but they work great so far, and having used Windows all my life, it’s an awesome trip, and a totally cool way to learn more about Linux.

All that to save an URL. Jeez. This thing is so not about me.

The End.
